I almost fell out of my chair when I realized that tomorrow is the first of October.  Where did September go?  I’m pretty sure that just last week was the beginning of September so someone must have taken the rest of it.  I know that sounds silly but I’m serious, I had no idea that September was almost over.

You know what that means, don’t you?  That means that in 31 day it will be Halloween, quickly followed by Thanksgiving and then comes Christmas.  I’m not ready for all of this.  I thought I had about 4 months and I don’t, I have just a little less than 3 months before Christmas.  Well I guess I better be making my lists and start looking for bargains online for what’s on my list.  Gotta figure out how to save as much as I can with the mess the economy is in.  Hopefully it’ll be better long before Christmas gets here.

I’m sure if you ever watch the news, you have heard about the contaminated babies milk in China.  I believe they said that over 13,000 babies have gotten sick from the milk.  It contains melamine which as been banned because it can cause kidney stones and ulcers.  This is the same stuff that poisoned thousands of pets here in America back in 2007.

With this the latest in tainted products to come out of China (remember the mess with the lead in the paint on children’s toys that were made in China?), I don’t see how anyone will be able to trust products of any type that are ‘Made in China’.  I’m afraid to buy anything for children especially from there.  It’s a shame because that is really going to hurt their export business unless some very strict changes are made in not only their production but also in the checking of their products by other countries.  We can’t risk another child, be they Chinese or American.  That doesn’t matter because all that matters is the children.

Have you heard that we have a new world record?  It’s true!!!  The world record was achieved on TV on the program ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’.  Isn’t that wonderful that so many got to actually see the world record broken.

Oh I forgot to tell you what the record was. Teen Andrew Dahl set a world record today blowing up balloons with his left nostril, continuing for the next hour, hoping to beat the existing 213 balloon record. When he had finished, Guinness World Records judge Stuart Claxton announced Dahl had “literally blown the record away”, blowing 308 balloons in the 60 minute span. All balloons had to be at least 8 inches wide when blown, and could only be blown with one nostril; Dahl chose his left nostril.

Lehman Brothers is still trying to find a buyer.  Now that their stocks aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on practically, who would want them?  They come with way too much to lose for someone to want them.  They simply got to greedy and big for their ‘britches’ as they say in the south.  That’s what has happened to all of the failing mortgage companies and a lot of banks.  They spent way too much time talking people into buying houses they really couldn’t afford or else allowing people to purchase homes they really couldn’t afford.

I’m sorry but it’s time for everyone to wake up and realize that you can’t have what you want when you want it if you can’t pay for it right now sometimes.  Too many people are buying too many ‘things’ and not thinking about if they can really afford it or not.  We are going to have to learn how to manage our money all over again because the times of excess are OVER!!!!!!

I have long been a sucker for those old silent films.  By today’s standards, yes they are way over acted but what characters and what stars they had.  Anita Page was one of the brightest and I was very saddened to hear that she had passed away.  Then I realized that she had lived for 98 years.  What a wonderful run at life this stunningly beautiful woman had.  She retired when she met her husband, a Naval Officer and remained married to him until he died in 1991.

I was thrilled when she returned to acting and starred in ‘Sunset After Dark’ in 1994.  Her last film appearance will be released this year in a movie called ‘Frankenstein Rising’.  Absolutely an amazing career and equally amazing woman.
