Came across another house

Well I came across another little house that I was able to pick up rather cheap.  This one needs a little TLC though.  I’ll have to have new hardwood or laminate floors put through out the house since the floors are awful in it.  The kitchen will need a dishwasher, stove, and refrigerator.  The cabinets aren’t too bad, they’ll be just fine with a coat of paint on them.

The bathroom will have to have a new vanity, toilet and bathtub.  I think I’ll have tile put on the floor.  The whole house inside will need a good coat of paint too.  I’m pretty sure the people that last lived in it took most anything and everything they could get their hands on and what they couldn’t take, they messed up terribly.  I’ll have to put ceiling fans in all the rooms and light fixtures in the rest too.

This house has so much potential though.  I know it will be perfect for one of the families that had contacted me about the other house I sold.  See this is a three bedroom with a bath and a half so it would be good for a bit larger family.  Thank goodness I know of several sites online where I can get the flooring, light fixtures and vanity.  I hate going out shopping so give me my laptop and I’m a shopping queen.

Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of the days of the year that we count our blessings.  I personally try very hard to count them each and everyday even if it’s just the blessing that I got up that morning.  Some days it’s a stretch to find a blessing but if you look at things a little differently, it makes it easier to find them.

I have great friends so that’s a blessing.  I have met some wonderful people that were interested in purchasing the house I bought and now have some special friends living in that very house.  It won’t be long before another new friend will be born too.  I can’t wait to meet him personally.

I am healthy so that’s a major blessing when I look at some of my friends that aren’t as lucky with their health.  I am also basically satisfied with my life too.  There aren’t many people that can say that.  I’m still learning every day and helping people along the way so I’m bless to be able to do those things too.

Best of all, I still have a sense of humor so I’m sure you’ll appreciate this cute little Thanksgiving cartoon.  Here’s hoping each and everyone has a Thanksgiving to be thankful for.

Well there went the stock market again

The Dow hit a 6 year low yesterday I believe it was.  I was in such shock at the lost value of my 401K that I just couldn’t stand the thought of blogging yesterday.  I’m still not in too much of a mood for anything today either.  It’s so disheartening to watch your hard earned savings and investments go down the toilet like that.

Sure everyone knows that you run the chance of losing when you dabble in the stock market but you don’t expect to lose your lives savings.  No I haven’t lost it all but I lost most of the profits I did have.  I might have been better off to have just put my money in a savings account instead of a 401K like I did.  Well at least I still have my real estate license and can take what money I have left and invest it in some cheap houses like I did with the one I just sold.  Hopefully that will get me back where I need to be so I can retire at a decent age and not in my 90′s.

I sold the house

I did it.  I sold the house.  I put an ad in the news paper offering the house to a couple or small family who has someone in it that is serving in Iraq or Afganistan and got several inquiries.  I did decide to finance it for them myself like I had planned to do and chose a young couple with a baby on the way.  You have to realize that this is a small 2 bedroom house so a larger family just wouldn’t be able to stay in such a small house but it’s perfect for a young couple.

I fell in love with this young mother-to-be the moment I met her.  Her husband won’t be here for the birth of their child unfortunately so I had my fix-it guy do whatever she wanted done to the babies room as my gift to them.  She’s having a boy so the room was painted blue on top with white chair railing.  The bottom, one wall is painted with paint that makes it like a chalk board so the little fella can draw to his hearts content on the wall and not hurt a thing.

A dear friend of mine is quite an artist and painted the other three walls to look like the woods with critters through out the woods.  I must say, the whole room looks great and there’s a big picture of Daddy framed over the childs bed so Daddy can watch over his son until he get’s home.

I’m currently looking for another small house to do the same thing with.  No I’m not going to get rich off of these houses money wise, but I feel rich within my soul for being able to help these young people that are giving so much for our country.  God bless them all.

I’ve decided what to do with the house

I’ve decided what to do with the little house I picked up cheaply.  I have already had my fix-it guy going through it and fixing up what ever needs to be fixed.  The house is in good shape so there wasn’t much that needed fixing other than a little paint and flooring.  There are several military personnel in our community that have pretty well lost everything from being called into active duty.

Well in honor of Veterans Day, I have decided to sell this house to a military family that had to face a lot of hardships because of being called into active duty.  I will finance the house myself at a lower interest rate than they might be able to get and besides, most of them have bad credit because of their active duty.  That’s the one way I can think of to say “Thank You” to a veteran.

In fact, I think I’ll start looking for another one to do the same thing with.  Aren’t we supposed to help others?  Well I think so and that’s what I’m going to do to help those in my community.  What are you doing to help those in need in your community?  It could be something as simple as delivering meals on wheels or raking the yard of an elderly couple.  Find something and help those in need.  You’ll feel so much better about yourself and your community by doing so.  God Bless those that reach out to those in need.
