Mom and Dad’s basement flooded

With all the rain that has hit lately, my parents basement flooded. Now they have to have waterrestoration911.com come out and remove the mold because black mold is a huge threat.  You would be amazed at the people that don’t realize that Black Mold can be deadly.  Well it most definitely can be.

In fact, I know a man who’s father died from it.  His roof leaked for years and the old man never had it fixed.  All that water kept leaking in and gathering in his insulation and drywall.  Then once the heat would hit, mold grew like crazy.  Once the old man died, they found it was from Black Mold.

The house was left to his son and before he could even move into it, he had to have all the mold removed, new drywall put in, new insulation and everything.  If the leak had just been fixed, the mans father would still be alive and the house would have been in good condition.

Did you hear about these twins?

There is a couple in England in which the husband is black and the wife is white.  A few years ago, she gave birth to a set of twin girls.  The rare thing about them is one twin was white and the other twin is black.  Well it seems that she’s done it again.  She has given birth to another set of twins.  That in itself is unusual.  But where it really gets rare is that once again, one twin is white and one twin is black.

The father must have some white in his background for this to happen and especially to happen twice, I would think.  I am not a genetic specialist so I’m just a man who is guessing.  I find it absolutely amazing as does the medical world apparently along with the public in general or they wouldn’t have been on the news.  Good luck to them with their children.  I’m glad they are all strong and healthy and the color of their skin has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than it makes them unique.  But aren’t all children in all reality?  I think so.

Bad time for my car to mess up

I have a 1997 Volvo S80.  I love that car.  Well it started acting really stupid not long after I donated my other car.  Acting stupid is a technical term for it wasn’t running right. Anyway, I have a guy that works on my car when something does go wrong that knows what he’s doing  thank goodness.   He said the part was going to cost way more than I thought it should so I got on my computer and found 247spares.co.uk.  I don’t mind using used parts at all and saving a bunch of money either.  No one ever said car parts had to be new to fix the problem now did they?

I found 24/7 Parts online and even though it’s in the UK, I can still get the parts cheaper through them.  So I ordered the part and it got here on the day they said it would.  Can’t beat that can you?  Besides, I like using used parts because it keeps them from ending up in a landfill somewhere.  Plus, 24/7 Parts was ranked number 6 in the hitwise category for -”Automotive Shopping Online” so they must be a good parts distributor to deal with.  I sure was pleased with them and in fact, my mechanic said he’ll start checking with them before he buys anymore parts.

Home Improvement from outside in

I have seen some beautiful houses but they just didn’t have any curb appeal because of the lack of plants and landscaping. It’s almost amazing what landscaping does and also how much it costs. There are some plants, mostly shrubs around my house but I want it to look so much better. Besides, I’m trying to fix up the inside but only invited friends will get to see that. So that’s when I decided to check life123.com to see if I could find out about climbing plants because I have an archway across my walkway up to the house.

I don’t know that much about climbing plants but since I came across this web site, I’m learning more and more. I put the archway at the two little steps that step up from the driveway. It looks good there but it needs something. I think I’m going to put a Clematis on each side of the archway so they can meet in the middle.

I don’t want any English Ivy after what I read. That stuff will grow anywhere and up anything. Some people even use it to keep their houses warmer in winter and cooler in summer by putting it on the sunny side of their house in the summer or the north side of their house for winter help. It’s a very informative site.

Got a car you want to get rid of?

I have an older car that I have thought about selling but the market isn’t much right now for used cars.  Well that is unless it’s one that gets great gas mileage and then you can sell it real quick.  This is a 1994 Dodge Neon.  Yeah it has a lot of miles on it but it still runs good and it’s a blast to drive.  I bought it brand new while I was still in college.  It was great for driving back and forth from school to home but I bought my Volvo, I just don’t drive it much anymore.

Instead of selling it, I have found a better way of parting with it.  A good friend of mine that lives in Charlotte, North Carolina was telling me about charitydispatch.com.   What a great idea!  You can donate an unwanted car and it goes to help someone that really needs it.  By donating a used and/or unwanted car, you will help disabled and disadvantaged people.  That’s a lot more important than sticking a few hundred dollars in my pocket when it could do far more to help people in need.  Besides, it’s also tax deductible but the most important thing is your helping others.  Or it is to me anyway.
