Need Plans for a Rainy Weekend

This weekend is the big Music City Marathon, with runners coming from all over the world to race through the downtown streets of Nashville. What makes this race extra special is that we have live bands on outside stages along the race route playing music as they run by. The public is allowed to stand around and listen to any of the bands that they like, and then after the race is over there is a big concert.

So, I was planning to go to the marathon and listen to some of the bands that I know will be there. But now they are calling for a lot of rain this entire weekend. So, I’m ditching this marathon and looking for something else to do. Anyone have some good ideas for fun in Nashville? Especially Saturday night?

Need Some R & R

I have been very busy with work lately. It all seems to have come to a head today, I think I am going to take an extended weekend and try to get caught up on sleep and de-stress myself a little bit.

I know I have brought up that I do real estate development, mostly to help veterans with housing. I specialize in taking (sometimes) a real trash heap and turning it into a treasured home. The one I have been working on lately has been a real doozie. It was a great three bedroom house with wonderful potential for a small family, the only problem is, all of the wiring had to be redone! I am lucky to work with good contractors, and after paying out around $10,000, the wiring part is done.

Now it is time to start working on getting the kitchen and bathrooms updated. We will put in new tile work, new fixtures, cabinets, and make sure all of the plumbing is updated as well. It will all be worth it when it is done, this will certainly help a deserving family.

With that drama taken care of, I need a few days to take care of me. Stress is very bad for your health, and I need to reduce mine. What is your favorite way to relax? I think I would like to find a good spa in the area and treat myself to relaxation and pampering. I think all women deserve the opportunity to be pampered once in a while.

Way Too Much Sugar

This looks like a poster board exhibit that someone did for a science fair. I wonder who made this up and who can verify the amounts of sugar being demonstrated?

It sure looks like a lot of sugar in those drinks – especially the Red Bull. I’m glad I rarely drink any of those drinks – I stick with water and hot hot most days.

Tick Season Has Started

My girlfriend called to tell me that she pulled two ticks off her son this morning and that she is worried about him getting Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever because the area where the ticks were attached is swollen and red. I told her to get that boy to the doctor so they can test it and put him on antibiotics!

That made me worry about my dogs getting ticks. It seems like this is awfully early in the season to be dealing with ticks already. But I checked each dog, head to toe, and didn’t find any ticks yet. That’s a good reminder for me to get down to the vet and buy some flea and tea prevention drops. I hope the vet gives me a good discount for buying that in quantity or I might have to shop for it online this year.

Call Me Crazy

crazy

I know that I have seen some people who were crazy. One time I was shopping near the university and this woman was walking on the sidewalk having a complete conversation with herself. she was talking loudly and voicing both sides of the conversation. It freaked me out – I stepped into a store doorway as she walked by – I didn’t want to even make eye contact with this crazy woman.
