Reading Annas Visions by Joy Redmond

Annas Visions by Joy Redmond

One of my friends on Facebook is an author who just published her second book, “Anna’s Visions.” I found the story line to be intriguing, a woman who has visions of the future, especially for her granddaughter.

Since I like a real book in my hands, I am ordering the paperback from Amazon, although people who like to download books to their Kindle or Nook can buy a digital version. The paperback is only $12.99, which is reasonable to me, especially since my purchase will be supporting a friend.

Yet Another iPhone

Are any of you fans of smart phones, like the iPhone? Another iPhone came out around the middle of last month, and like usual people lined up to get it the day before. It makes you wonder how on earth these people have time to line up for a whole day before, on week days? Do they not have jobs to go to? If they don’t have jobs to go to where do they get the money to buy these expensive pieces of tech.

What really gets me is on some of the reviews for people using Sprint and Verizon, they are upset that they cannot use the data and talk on the phone at the same time. I swear some people really have an entitlement problem! Having data/internet on a cell phone is a fairly new thing, and people got along just fine with out it before. I can definitely see why one of these smart phones would be useful, especially those who travel for work. I am just one of those old dogs, who won’t learn new tricks, unless I drop my phone in a rain puddle again and insurance forces me to get with the new technology.

Online Arguments are Pointless

What is the point of arguing with people online? I don’t think many people will be swayed by expressing your own point of view on subjects. They are too busy defending their own points of view and don’t really have a stake in the outcome of the argument other than the self satisfaction of wearing you down.

I don’t like to argue with people anyway. Sometimes a healthy debate can be enlightening, but most people don’t have the self control and discipline to debate. They just resort to name calling and bullying tactics.

Touchy Touch Screens

Of course all my friends rushed out and got the fancy new phones with the touch screens and the big displays as soon as they hit the market. Most of my friends want all the tech stuff they can buy. They want the latest, the greatest, the best, the fastest – whatever. But now all of them are having issues with the screens cracking and the displays not working right anymore. Its almost impossible to get a touch screen phone repaired – you have to send it away for up to 6 weeks to some place in New York. So what do you use for a phone during those 6 weeks? That’s just not acceptable.

New iPhones Again

People were lined up last night at the Apple store to get the first new iPhones. I think that is crazy. Why would you sleep on the sidewalk and freeze overnight, be hungry and cold and tired all day today – just because you had to own a new phone? That makes no sense. It’s just a phone, people!
