Exasperated With Online Posts

I am so fed up of getting online, especially on Facebook, and seeing all of the ignorant sounding posts from people. I have started to notice a real downward spiral in the spelling and grammar of younger people. Sometimes, it is so bad that I just want to smack my head against my desk. I have noticed people misspelling words like early, strawberry, and question. That is the part that gets me the worst! These are words that any grade school child should know, let alone an adult!

If it isn’t the horrible spelling and even worse grammar, it is the total lack of propriety by the younger people as well. I have noticed so many people posting and talking about illegal activities and posting pictures. I have also noticed there is so much more profanity than there used to be. Do these people not realize that a lot of companies check your Facebook page when they are considering you for employment? Law enforcement also has access to your social media. That is something to consider the next time someone wants to put up illicit pictures of themselves online.

I wish that there would be more care and respect. I feel like some of the younger folks are just starting to fall so far away from that. I don’t blame media at all, I blame parents. There needs to be more parents taking an interest in their children so that they learn the consequences of their actions.

Don’t get me wrong with my rant, there are some great young people out there. They are out there because they had amazing parents. I want to see more of them, and less of the Jersey Shore type young adults.

Black Friday

I cannot stand Black Friday, and I have no intention of leaving my house today unless I absolutely have to! It is just mayhem  compounded with crazy, mixed in with greed, and I want no part in it whatsoever. So many people go so crazy over the deals, that they do just that, go crazy!

This year, a friend of mine makes handmade jewelry and I have asked her to make a few pieces for me to give to my mother, sisters, and good friends. I know that a lot of money goes into our economy over this shopping holiday, but most of it is going to huge corporations like Walmart. I do some shopping at Walmart, yes, but I have decided that this year, I am going to spend a good deal of money with small businesses, to help them get a boost as well.

My friend also has small children and a family, and recently moved to Oklahoma, I miss her and her beautiful children very much. I hope that they will get the chance to come back to Tennessee for a visit and see us soon. Her mom is still here, and I know that she misses her terribly, it would be great to see them again.

She also writes a blog, and if you want some good laughs about the craziness of being a mom, you should check her out sometime, if you leave a comment let her know Melinda sent you!

Price Increase

Don’t you hate it when you go to buy something that you haven’t bought in a while only to find out that the price has gone up?

I had to buy some new socks, mine are in shambles and I had been too busy to go out and get any lately. On top of it all, summer is flip flop weather! Tonight, I decided that I have had enough with it and I ran into Target real quick to pick up a couple packages of socks.

After I had checked out, I was walking out to the parking lot to get into my car, and I decided I wanted to get a Redbox movie. It was a hard choice between The Amazing Spider Man and Magic Mike. I settled on Magic Mike and went to check out and the price has increased to $1.25 for DVDs!

Sure, it is only 25 cents, but still, all of the price increases in everything lately is starting to bug me!

Election Day

Well November 6th is upon us and it is Election Day. It has seemed to be a big bloody battle between the two presidential candidates. I try to stay out of all of the nasty back and forth that is going on now days between the two political parties. It is just more drama than I wish to engage in. I do however want to stress the importance of voting. So many people have worked tirelessly and fought for everyone to have the right to vote, it would be a waste not to use that right!

It is very important for everyone to try to make an informed decision while voting too. Brush up on a little bit of news here and there, and go to the polls today with at least a general idea of where the candidates stand on the issues.

So remember to vote, and I hope you don’t have to stand too long in line!

Yet Another iPhone

Are any of you fans of smart phones, like the iPhone? Another iPhone came out around the middle of last month, and like usual people lined up to get it the day before. It makes you wonder how on earth these people have time to line up for a whole day before, on week days? Do they not have jobs to go to? If they don’t have jobs to go to where do they get the money to buy these expensive pieces of tech.

What really gets me is on some of the reviews for people using Sprint and Verizon, they are upset that they cannot use the data and talk on the phone at the same time. I swear some people really have an entitlement problem! Having data/internet on a cell phone is a fairly new thing, and people got along just fine with out it before. I can definitely see why one of these smart phones would be useful, especially those who travel for work. I am just one of those old dogs, who won’t learn new tricks, unless I drop my phone in a rain puddle again and insurance forces me to get with the new technology.
