Getting Ready to Move

I am really looking forward to moving! I have been preparing for most of this month getting ready. I have given notice at the Apartments that I will not be signing another lease for the coming year, and I have been going to liquor stores and grocery stores to pick up boxes. I have even gotten quite a few of them packed up and ready to go.

While I have been at it, I have everything arranged with the utility companies to have my electric, internet and cable services to be transfered. I am encountering some new bills to me with this move, I have never had to set up Natural Gas or water/trash services before, but I have those ready to go as well. Luckily, I didn’t have to pay any deposits to arrange my service.

I am looking forward to having a gas stove for cooking as well. I have heard from many of my friends that it is much better for cooking than using an electric stove. There is so much more space than my apartment and having a yard are more perks.

This is very exciting to me to finally become a home owner!

Adjustment Period

When people move into new surroundings, it takes a little bit of time to get adjusted. Some people seem to adapt a little easier or faster than others. I take a while to get comfortable. It don’t know why. I love to travel, but I don’t like feeling lost. I like to explore, but I like to keep track of where I am and how to get back. I wonder if there is a personality disorder for people who are perpetual gypsies. There are several songs about that, with lines like, “Home is where I hang my hat” and “Pappa was a rolling stone.”

I love vacations, but I seem to keep going back to the same places. I wonder why? There are certainly places I’ve never been that would be interesting and vacation-worthy.  Maybe it’s because I only have a short period of time and don’t want to risk something so valuable on the unknown?
